"The Day After" (1983) The sequence of the boy in front of the TV with snipets of news broadcasts covering the rapid escalation of force between the United States and the Soviet Union and subsequent nuclear exchanges intermixed with US Airmen scrambling B-52 bombers and the guys in the command centers of the ICBM silos going thru the launch authentication process always gives me chills up and down my spine. There's no happy ending in a nuclear war. The movie also has a disclaimer at the end stating the obvious, a real nuclear war would be magnitudes and magnitudes worse. No movie could do that sort of destruction any justice.
